Waking the Merrow (The Merrow Trilogy #1) by Heather Rigney ★★★★☆

Cillian Murphy with blue blue eyes
"They were the wide eyes of her aquatic cousins, unmistakable with the unnaturally large eye-sockets and light-colored irises. He was a merrow."

Into the Drowning Deep (Rolling in the Deep #1) by Mira Grant ★★☆☆☆

Merman in the surf with gills on his ribs
"They sang no songs of their own, only songs stolen from the victims of their hunger.”

Boo to that ending! Boo I say! This book did not live up to the vicious promise of Rolling in the Deep.

Rolling in the Deep (Rolling in the Deep #0.5) by Mira Grant ★★★★☆

Dark alien looking mermaid coming up from the water

A gorrible mermaid tale in the spirit of David Wellington. It's short, fast paced, whimsical, and just sciency enough to hook you before the horror sets in. The eel KY was a nice touch.

The Soul of an Octopus: A Surprising Exploration into the Wonder of Consciousness by Sy Montgomery ★★★★★

A red and purple octopus swimming with the caption Soul of an...
Yesterday I set off on a one mile walk with my dog and this audiobook - that mile became four because I didn't want to stop listening. I made dinner and listened. I ate dinner and listened. Tucked in my bed I listened into the wee hours. I woke up, brushed my teeth and listened. In short, I am completely hooked by this audiobook.

Octopus: The Ocean's Intelligent Invertebrate by Jennifer A. Mather, Roland C. Anderson, James B. Wood ★★★★★

Cute purple octopus strolling along the ocean floor

My love for octopuses began with Sy Montgomery’s Soul of an Octopus. I have not eaten one since, it would be a crime against something magically beautiful and intelligent.

Stitches and Witches (Vampire Knitting Club #2) by Nancy Warren ★★★★★

Lestat and Louis from Interview with the Vampire looking tired and rough with the caption All the vampires wanted to help solve the murder, not out of altruism, but for something to do

The vampires from Forever Knight looking attentive with the caption I bet he'd like a nice jumper twenty vampire heads rose in the excitement of fresh humans to knit for

A too cool European couple by a bridge the caption in pink by the woman says I want you to unsnarl the mess I've made and the caption in blue bellow the man reads I'll need something much stronger than tea if I'm going to fix your knitting

The Vampire Knitting Club (Vampire Knitting Club #1) by Nancy Warren ★★★★★

Collage of famous people knitting over the last hundred years
“Sherlock Holmes had his Baker Street irregulars, and I had my Harrington Street immortals.”

After hundreds of years, and with heightened speed and dexterity, imagine what a badass knitter you would be!!!

Gilchrist by Christian Galacar ★★★★☆

Ghostly dark haunting image that seems to grow out of the trees themselves

"Nothing about a real vampire is elegant."

An ancient darkness revels in its influence over a small town.

A Subtle Agency (Metaframe War #1) by Graeme Rodaughan ★★★★★

Selene from Underworld jumping of a building and landing easily with the worlds Like A Boss flashing

BOOM! I loved this indie vampire action movie and gave it all the stars! Yes, technically, it's a book but as there were more bullets than words spoken I'm calling it an ACTION MOVIE.

Ra from Stargate giving a fierce over the shoulder look

The Witch's Halloween Hero (Nocturne Falls #4.5) ★★★☆☆

Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo dancing in the Thomas Crown Affair

Rook and Witch have dated for years and now, at the Halloween Ball, it’s time...

Queue the magic.

Queue the fireworks.

Queue the ring.

Happy Halloween!
