Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist ★★★★☆

"I’m only twelve. But I’ve been twelve for a long time.”

A long time ago children with difficult lives imagined running away with the circus. Lately violence saturates the very air and the fantasy changes - run away with a vampire! Because a circus, outside of American Horror, does not have the power to meet out vengeance.

What I liked was the balance depicted as the children enjoyed being children while at the same time having to deal with adult situations as their caregivers failed them.

What I did not enjoy was the many POV switches to characters that added little to the story.

What was difficult to read was all the pedophilia stuff. Truly, pedophiles are scarier than clowns or giant spiders.
