Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry ★★★★★

Two coyboys on hourseback with a sunset backdrop
This has defiantly become one of my favorite novels though it's hard to explain why. The meat of the story is about two retired Texas Rangers who decide to leave their south Texas ranch and drive cattle to Montana.

The Hunger by Alma Katsu ★★☆☆☆

A dark image of Guy Pearce in Ravenous covered in blood
A motley collection of Christians-with-secrets sets out by wagon train to California. Along the way they fight, hate, rape, and kill until succumbing to nature and German sociopathy.

I was hoping for Lonesome Dove meets Ravenous and found boredom instead.

An Unexpected Peril (Veronica Speedwell #6) by Deanna Raybourn ★★★★☆

A black and white photograph of a young beautiful princess margaret in pearls with the caption Happy? I am a princess it is not my place to be happy it is my place to govern written in black capitals in a pink background
My least favorite of the series but still a fine Sunday entertainment.

A Murderous Relation (Veronica Speedwell #5) by Deanna Raybourn ★★★★★

An oil painting of a woman joyfully embracing a man with her head thrown back smiling broadly the caption reads He was no another half for I was whole unto myself but he was my mirror and in him I saw all I liked best in me
I have read this book twice, I’m sure I will read it again.

These stories are the best of historical fiction!

A Dangerous Collaboration (Veronica Speedwell #4) by Deanna Raybourn ★★★★☆

Karl Urban dressed in white giving the camera a steamy look with the caption I can promise you all manner of adventures
Lord Templeton-Vane has taken over! This story is all about his secret past, his sins, his pain.

A Treacherous Curse (Veronica Speedwell #3) by Deanna Raybourn ★★★★★

Black and white photograph of a handsome man in a waistcoat holding a newspaper and looking outward the caption reads He is changeable as the sea but solid as the earth
Veronica and Revelstoke are one of my of all time favorite literary couples.

A Curious Beginning (Veronica Speedwell #1) by Deanna Raybourn ★★★★★

An Victorian woman gazing towards a man in a top hat in the distance through the gas lit fog
“I am stalwart as a lion, Mr. Stoker. Stalwart as a lion.”

I have read this book three times.  That’s a recommendation in itself, lol.
