No no no no no. You cannot talk big game slasher movie talk and then give me a weak Girl on the Train. Ninety percent of this book could have been called Lying Paranoid Bitches.
Near the end there was some good knife work written but when the killer was revealed... ok so that was slasher movie-esque, but a B slasher movie. Lazy "let's wrap this up" writing that doesn't feel the need to be interesting or make sense.
And no, there was no amazing surprise as to why there were two narrators.
If you go into this book expecting The Girl on the Train mixed lightly with a B slasher then you won't be disappointed. Me? Well, I was expecting The Red Mohawk with a little Scream Queens. Disappointed.
For those of you who are curious who the killer is but have no intention of reading this book I shall spoil you...
Love that last gif! Great review! I haven't read it and after seeing so many up and down reviews from dnf to five stars I am reluctant to even try it. I read one book by this author which was really good, but the ratings from some of the other books are always topsy-turvy.
ReplyDeleteThey have great marketing and poor story.
